The 450-mile foot trail that became known as the Natchez Trace was the lifeline through the Old Southwest. Today there are five separate trails totaling over 60 miles and they are administered by the Natchez Trace Parkway. This Fall scene was created at the Water Valley Overlook on the Natchez Trace Parkway. I love how this old barn and homestead are nestled in the beautiful surrounding hillside. The layers of Fall colors pull your eye into the scene to the rusted roof on the barn, pond and hillside and tree line in the distance.
